Agentic Mesh: Towards Enterprise-Grade Agents | by Eric Broda | Jan, 2025

The first wave of agent adoption is clearly upon us. However, when I talk to practitioners working with agents I hear the same themes: enterprises are “dying the death of 1000 agent proof of concepts”, or I hear agent initiatives being called “science experiments”, never getting out of the lab and into production.

I think POCs and experiments are the first steps to building expertise, however, to get businesses to adopt agents, two things need to happen. The first is easy: clear business value needs to be identified. If you work with agents (and can get them to work reliably) then you probably see the huge potential. This is a solvable problem.

Which leads to the second thing — the hard thing! You can’t realize value from agents until you get them into production. Unfortunately, today’s crop of agent is not necessarily production worthy. And this is turning into an enormous obstacle to getting agents into production and, hence, delivering real value.
