Norton 360 Adds Genie AI Scam Protection To All Packages

Norton has integrated artificial intelligence into its security software to combat the increasing sophistication of AI-driven scams. The company’s new Genie Scam Protection is designed to work alongside existing antivirus and firewall technologies.

The rise of AI has led to more convincing and personalized scams, making it difficult for individuals to discern legitimate communications from fraudulent ones. Scammers are increasingly using AI to create deepfakes, generate realistic phishing messages, and tailor attacks to specific targets. To address this growing threat, Norton has developed Genie to identify and block these advanced scams.

Genie Scam Protection includes a Scam Assistant feature that provides users with on-demand answers to security questions. This assistant aims to offer immediate reassurance and guidance when users encounter potentially suspicious content. The integration of AI allows Genie to analyze text messages, emails, and images for indicators of fraudulent activity.

The software can detect scams in SMS messages before the user even opens them, providing an early warning against potential phishing attempts. Genie also has the capability to scan images and offers for signs of manipulation or deception, helping users avoid falling victim to deepfakes and other AI-generated scams. This functionality is intended to provide a proactive defense against evolving online threats.

Genie Scam Protection is included in all Norton 360 packages, starting with the base AntiVirus Plus offering. This ensures that all Norton customers have access to AI-powered scam protection, regardless of their chosen subscription level. The inclusion of Genie across all packages reflects Norton’s commitment to providing comprehensive security against AI-driven threats.

Norton AntiVirus Plus, the entry-level package, includes antivirus protection, a password manager, and Genie scam protection for a single device. More advanced Norton 360 packages offer additional features such as secure cloud backups, a virtual private network (VPN) for anonymous web browsing, dark web monitoring, enhanced parental controls, and real-time credit monitoring. These expanded features aim to provide a more complete security solution for users with multiple devices and greater security needs.

Promotional pricing is currently available on standard Norton 360 packages. The base Norton AntiVirus Plus package is offered at a discounted rate for the first year, making it an accessible option for users seeking basic security protection. The more comprehensive Select Plus package, which covers up to 10 devices, is also available at a reduced price for the initial year of subscription. “With at least 50% off on all standard Norton 360 packages at the time of writing, you can pick up the base Norton AntiVirus Plus package for the equivalent of just $2.50 per month for the first year,” the company said.

Regardless of the specific Norton 360 package chosen, all subscriptions include Genie anti-scam protection. This inclusion aims to provide users and their families with peace of mind in the face of increasingly sophisticated AI-driven attacks. Norton’s approach is to leverage AI to combat AI, providing a proactive defense against the evolving threat landscape. As scammers increasingly use AI to personalize and target their attacks, Norton is responding by integrating AI into its security solutions.
