Google Launches Pixel Care+ With $0 Screen And Battery Repairs

Google introduced Pixel Care+, a new device protection program, on Wednesday in the United States. This program replaces the existing Google Preferred Care and Fi Device Protection offerings, with current subscribers to those programs being transitioned to Pixel Care+ in the coming months.

According to a Google blog post, Pixel Care+ aims to provide Google hardware owners with enhanced coverage, service, and overall peace of mind, offering a comprehensive suite of protection features. The core offering of Pixel Care+ includes unlimited claims for accidental damage, extended warranty coverage beyond the standard manufacturer’s warranty, and protection against mechanical failures that may occur with the covered devices.

A key benefit of Pixel Care+ is the provision of $0 screen and battery repairs, addressing common and costly device issues. The program extends to cover post-warranty malfunctions, also at no cost to the user. Google affirms that all repairs and replacements under Pixel Care+ will utilize genuine Google parts, ensuring device integrity and performance. Subscribers also gain access to priority support from Pixel experts, streamlining troubleshooting and assistance.

The program facilitates self-service claims through the Google Store website. Furthermore, customers have the option to add loss and theft coverage to their Pixel Care+ plan, providing an additional layer of protection. Upgraded shipping is included for replacements, with next-day shipping available to minimize downtime. Pricing for Pixel Care+ varies based on the specific device covered. As an example, Pixel Care+ for a Pixel 10 is priced at $10 per month or a one-time payment of $199 for a two-year term.

Pixel Care+ became available on Wednesday in the U.S. for a range of new, eligible devices. These devices include the Pixel 8 series and later models, the Pixel Watch 2 series and newer, the Pixel Tablet, Fitbit Ace LTE, Fitbit Versa 4, Fitbit Sense 2, Fitbit Charge 6, and Fitbit Inspire 3. Customers have a 60-day window from the date of device purchase to add Pixel Care+ to their device. Claims can be initiated either through the Google Store or directly within the My Pixel App, offering users convenient methods to seek assistance.
