TikTok has introduced “TikTok Pro” in Germany, Portugal, and Spain, incorporating a charity initiative called the “Sunshine Programme” to facilitate user support for nonprofit organizations.
Users earn “virtual sunshine” through activities like inviting others to the platform and interacting with charity-related content, such as liking or reposting videos, following nonprofit accounts, or searching for specific causes. Accumulated virtual sunshine can be donated to partnered charities, triggering direct financial contributions from TikTok.
Content on TikTok Pro mirrors the standard TikTok application, according to Social Media Today. However, TikTok Pro omits livestreaming capabilities, e-commerce features, and advertisements entirely.
The company explained this approach seeks “to enable people in Europe to support charitable organizations while discovering engaging and entertaining TikTok content.”
